Renaissance Costume 101. I made every mistake imaginable on this costume, but it was fun. The shift is raw silk with Tudor rose embroidery designs on the sleeves. The skirt is of a very light linen/cotton/rayon woven stripe, chosen to be cool, since Shasta County is notoriously warm in the summer. The green front panel is linen/cotton blend with 11 repeats of the free Jacobean leaves design. That same design is centered on the corset front. It is fairly obvious that the skirt needs a farthingale, but that will have to wait until the next fair. I'm out of time and energy. |
